This morning’s Instagram post (in italics below) not only showcases my new hashtag, but also represents what this past month has been for me in a nutshell—an amazing opportunity to focus inward, reflect, and to heal.
Do you ever feel as if you are sleepwalking through life?
I can safely admit, before cancer—even though I was on a spiritual journey and slowly creeping out of my comfort zone—I was a sleepwalker. Going through the motions, following the rules, keeping time with the rhythm of everyone and every thing around me.
But since the diagnosis, and one of the worst experiences I could ever imagine, I’ve had this new appreciation for life I don’t think I could have had under any other circumstance.
Not only has cancer been an incredible teacher to me, but this past month has been an extraordinary opportunity to heal, to reflect on my life objectively, and to make some pretty important decisions about my…
I’m sure I’ve said this before, but cancer has awakened me to a whole new perspective.
It has empowered me in that my battle with it has strengthened and made me more accepting, confident, and willing.
It has forced me into a deeper awareness—the truth that I. am. alive.
So, my friends, I invite you to follow and use this hashtag whenever you are feeling awakened, empowered, and alive, no matter what the reason or circumstance.

When I’m not acting goofy on insta stories, I’m usually taking a yoga class, a meditative swim or bike ride, or praising God and the Universe for this second chance at life.
Through all of this introspection and the wonderment for this gorgeous earth, I’ve had a pretty incredible realization—I am awakened, empowered, and alive.
Please stay tuned for so much more on this fresh reality. I am excited to begin a 200 hour yoga teacher training program at my home, House of Jai in September as part of this awakening, and plan to lead my first retreat in the Fall of 2019.
In the meantime, subscribe for blog posts via email and look out for more inspiration as the summer comes to a close.
