Oh. Em. GEE. The recent launch of It Took Turning 40 has got me really wound up. Although ITT40 is my passion (I am actually obsessed), I still get stressed and tight from sitting at the laptop writing for long periods of time.
When I arrived at the yoga studio yesterday afternoon, I was completely wired – mind spinning with all the things I still had left to do before we head to Spain, heart palpitating, tight “schneck” (shoulders and neck). Just one giant fascial MESS.
I took a one hour slow flow class and immediately afterward, I felt as if I’d just treated myself to a 90-minute massage at THANN Sanctuary, with a visit to the sauna. Fo’ real. My entire body was at ease. All that fascial tension was gone and I felt like a million bucks. On my way home, I knew I had to write about this. There was no way I wasn’t going to share this experience with you on my self care themed site.
A regular yoga practice doesn’t only help you become physically stable, strong, and flexible, but the cognitive and emotional benefits are UH-MAY-ZING. When you are devoted to your practice, your energy shifts in a major way, as does your perspective, world view, and capacity to feel love and compassion toward all beings. Like I said, UH-MAY-ZING. In fact, I am so devoted to my practice, I plan to do Teacher Training in the fall. So looking forward to that.
Another beauty of yoga is that you can literally practice anywhere. Airplane included.
That said, I’ll be heading off to Barcelona in a few. While I’m traveling, I’d love to hear about your practice and how its impacted your journey.
